All eyes on Jamaica National Trials starting today June 28, 2012.
The trials will run for four days, Thursday july 28 through to Sunday July 1. the first day of the four-day JAAA/Supreme Ventures National Senior Trials at the National Stadium will see the women's 400m hurdles heats opening the day at 9:30 a.m., with the heats of the men's 400m hurdles and the men's 100m completing the morning session. The afternoon session will feature some of the world's fastest athletes at the stadium when the 'big boys' come out for the quarter-final of the men's 100m, to be preceded by the heats of the women's equivalent. The interest however, will be in the first two rounds of the men’s 100m that will see the much anticipated clash between the reigning Olympic champion and world record holder, Usain Bolt, World champion Yohan Blake and one-time world record holder and defending national champion Asafa Powell.
Veronica Campbell-Brown and defending Olympic Champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce will face off against each other while competing against the likes of Olympic silver medallists Kerron Stewart and Sherone Simpson, as well as Carrie Russell, the World University and Penn Relays Collegiate champion, Sheri-Ann Brooks, who returned to the sport this season after some time off, Schillonie Calvert.
